The crime show “The Mentalist focuses on Simon Baker as Patrick Jane, who works as a consultant to the California Bureau of Investigation. Having amazing observational skills, Patrick uses his ability to solve baffling crimes. Having been a psychic and a mentalist in the past these paranormal abilities also aid him to his task of solving crimes. When his quest for crime solving brought on his tail a serial killer who killed his wife and daughter, Patrick lost all his hopes.

The Mentalist 4.14 “At First Blush” Review

During the first blush episode, there was a show case of weaknesses and strengths, which ranged from the bond between Jane and Lisbon to the slow slide of Kimball Cho to the road of addiction. The way Jane first observed Eve was interesting, that is she noticed the missing button, the run in her stocking and the fear on her face. With answering one question, she convinced Jane that she was innocent, but he could not afford to let her go. It was really good to see that, though Patrick Jane has his flaws, he believes in right and wrong. He is a person who always wants to see justice prevailing. It was even better that Lisbon had his back the whole way and she even decided that she could take the hit from the DA. Though Jane had to first steal her sandwich to get her attention, once she got the point, she was with him all the way.

Previously, Jane had to have jumped through a lot of hoops to get Lisbon’s attention and to finally get her on board. However, lately, it seems as if the trust between the two is growing all the time. Jane also gave us a lesson in lying when he said that liars often over compensate and that they do not contract their verbs.

On the down side, when the murderer was revealed it was not a shock. The husband looked so guilty and it was presumed by all that the partner had to have been the one who had done it. The amusing thing was when Eve told Amy that she had to reveal the truth in court. Could a woman who bludgeoned a man to death and framed another for it feel the sudden truth to tell the truth in court? However, given the fact that this is a TV show, she indeed went ahead and made a full confession.

When Rigsby noticed that Cho was popping too many pills, he decided to say something to him. This was long overdue, given the fact that it was his responsibility as partner to notice that his friend was in trouble and do something about it. It is a fact that Cho really needs help and he has to get it sooner, rather than later. It is only a wonder if Summer will be the one to help him. It was a fun moment when Cho said that he would wire up her undercover sting and it is only bad that we did not get to see that scene. His feelings toward her were seen when she got hurt and he got scared and angry. This happened despite the fact that he is usually good at controlling his emotions. It can, therefore, be safely said that when it comes to Summer, Cho is not capable of controlling his emotions. It was good that he finally admitted that he liked her.
