Lisbon and Jane investigates a victim in a department store, interrogating only a handful of witnesses. A woman is seen as the probable culprit, but more reliable evidence is still yet to be found. Later on, the team investigates in a motel, where a woman who apparently stole a million dollars from her employer is found suffocated. This they link to the previous murder.

However, with Lisbon and Jane still keeping that unquenchable thirst to capture Red John, they find themselves distracted with their current assignments Agent Sam Bosco enters the scene and takes the Red John case out of their task. Reluctant Lisbon and Jane may be, they cannot do anything but heed.
