‘The Mentalist’ star enjoys the buzz around Red John
Simon Baker star of the Mentalist is quite enjoying all the rumour mongering doing the rounds regarding the real identity of Red John.
He plays the so far unseen role of Patrick Jane, a serial murderer who has killed his closest kin (wife and daughter). His identity is still under wraps even though the series has run for three years.

“I love all that speculation,” Baker told a local publication. In this he is merely echoing the new urge to share, talk, analyses to pieces that constitutes a lot of TV programming these days and reflects the current norm. With the advent of social media platforms line Facebook and Twitter, networking has won the stamp of social approval and become something of a national past time.
The actor plans to also talk to the creator of the series (Bruno Heller) about his till now secret avatar. Not that too many of his scenarios and storylines have translated into episodes so far. He describes it as mere hypothetical games and calls Bruno a “cagey character.”
One thing he does concede though and that is that revealing the Identity of Red John could well lead to the climax of his career with the California Bureau of Investigation.
Well it would seem the jury is still out on that one. “Is that the thing that drives him?” he wonders. To draw a parallel, he adds that he did not watch the entire series of The Fugitive, so he could not comment on whether or not Richard Kimble did ever manage to get his one-armed foe.
The Mentalist will be on air on Thursdays on CBS in the US, and on Fridays on Channel 5 in the UK.
